Our Christmas Lunch is about companionship, support, collaboration and inclusion. Last year, our Community Christmas Lunch turned 40!
40 years, our community has been working alongside businesses and volunteers to make sure those who need it can share a Christmas meal in a safe environment.
The week leading up to Christmas Day is always a hive of activity. Including collecting all the donations from the gift drives, corporate sponsors wrapping them up, volunteers and committee members setting up the hall and preparing the food.
None of this could be achieved without the help of hundreds. Individuals, businesses and corporate groups all helping by donating their time, funds or much needed items.
Once again, the event was held at the Hellenic Hall in North Hobart.
It’s such a busy time for all involved, but the payoff is well worth it. You can find some stats down the page.
Seeing the smiling faces when Santa Claus arrives is a magical moment – and those smiles are not just the children either. It really is a special event, and such a joy to be a part of!
It’s no secret that Christmas can be a difficult time, particularly for anyone doing it tough, struggling with homelessness, or simply finding themselves isolated and alone.
Once again, we’re honoured to have worked with people and businesses together to deliver support, companionship and care for those who need it most.
The service we provide to our community is a joint venture between our Colony 47 Team, businesses, organisations and volunteers.
We are lucky to have received numerous donations in the form of equipment, non-perishables, fresh fruit and vegetables, kitchen resources, services and financial donations in 2022. We foster genuine relationships and want to acknowledge the commitment and generosity from each one of our sponsors.
We are infinitely grateful and thank all of the volunteers and local businesses who made this possible.
