Our JumpStart Subsidy support program helps young Tasmanias aged 18–24 who are working and ready for independent living but just need a little bit extra to help them into a house. If eligible, we could assist with up to $50 per week to help you afford to rent a suitable house in southern Tasmania.
Eligibility & Commitment.
You need to be aged between 18 & 24 years of age and be ready to live independently.
You’ll need to be employed and a minimum of 25% of your earnings must be available for your rent.
You need to remain engaged in the program as long as we’re supporting you within the JumpStart program.
Keen for more information? Read on or download our subsidy brochure for more details.
But, how does it all work?
JumpStart is going to be different for every participant. You may be applying as a single person looking to live in a share house, or a young family wanting a private house. We will work with each of you to determine your needs and supports, but we’ve put together some case studies to help show how the subsidy program might look.
Can I check the amount of subsidy I am eligible for?
Yes, it’s a great idea to check that you’re earning enough to cover the 25% rent requirement and that we can help cover the gap for you before you apply.
Please download the excel worksheet by clicking on the button below and follow the instructions to work out the subsidy you’re eligible for.
