Eureka Clubhouse in Florence Street Moonah, set a new high standard in mental health support last Friday with the first rehearsal session for the Clubhouse’s new band, Mentally Healthy as Anything, an inclusive initiative to increase access to the positive benefits of music-making to maintain good mental health.

After a call out for instruments on ABC Radio, the initiative received heart-warming responses. Thank you Andrea, for the use of your mother’s Electric Piano, thank you Anna for the awesome bass-guitar, thank you Mark for the beautiful acoustic guitar!

Band member and initiator, CJ Mc Cann, said ‘Mentally Healthy as Anything’ is old-school music making suitable for anyone who likes singing familiar songs.

Musical mentor Daniel J Townsend, is an AFMA- nominated songwriter and award-winning educator, poet, storyteller and creative facilitator, taught the band three songs, ‘Let it Be’ and ‘Imagine’ by the Beatles and ‘Horse with no Name’ by America, which initiator Mc Cann said all sounded “moderately fantastic for a first-time rehearsal.”
